American Council of the Blind
This is a leading membership organization of blind and visually impaired people. It offers a free
monthly national magazine The Braille Forum in alternate formats. ACB offers numerous services, training,
consulting, and an annual national convention. The mission of ACB is to improve the quality of life by
advocating for the blind and visually impaired.

National Federation of the Blind

The NFB is a consumer organization of blind persons working together to improve opportunities for the
blind and the understanding of blindness by the general public. Its goal is to help blind persons achieve
self-confidence and self-respect, and the complete integration of the blind into society on a basis of
equality. Services include a Materials Center, the International Braille and Technology Center, a national
Jobline, and various publications including NFB Newsline, a free talking radio service.

National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Library of Congress

NLS administers a free national library program of Braille and recorded materials (books and magazines)
for persons with a visual or physical disability. Reading materials and playback machines are sent to
borrowers and returned to participating libraries by postage-free mail. The site map contains links to
circulars on a variety of disability related topics such as advocacy and assistive devices for computers.
